Good oral health can significantly enhance their quality of life. These patients require regular dental visit for diagnosis, management, prevention and treatment of dental problems associated with age-related diseases. While it may seem like oral health upkeep should take a backseat to caring for a severe physical disability, older adults should strive to maintain good oral health to help prevent the onset of serious chronic diseases. If elderly people experience any sudden pain, changes in the oral health, or even sudden changes in taste, don’t wait for next scheduled dental appointment to act. If they are at risk for a serious condition like oral cancer or gum disease, catching it early increases the likelihood of successful treatments.
